Is Belly Casting safe for my baby?
Yes, it is completely safe!

What can I do with my belly cast after I create it?
-Put baby's name, birthdate, footprints inside -  If you can get them to cooperate, you can do handprints as well.
-Take Pictures - After baby is born, it is really cool to take a picture of them inside the cast.
-Reinforce and trim - You may choose to keep your cast raw, which is fine, but if you do, you may want to at least 'tidy' it up a bit.  If it is thinning in some areas you can add more plaster gauze strips to the INSIDE to make it stronger.  You may also want to trim the rough edges.  You can just trim them to make them smoother or you can trim and angle the edges to make it more artistic looking.
-Sand and Smooth - You can sand the cast to make it smoother.  After sanding if you apply a few coats of Gesso (which is like art primer) and sand again and you should get it pretty smooth look.
Display your cast - You can hang it on the wall or just prop it up on a table or shelf.

Will our conversations be confidential?
Confidentiality is extremely important in the therapeutic relationship.  I strive to create a secure, non-judgemental therapeutic environment where you feel comfortable sharing and knowing that what you share will not be repeated outside of the therapeutic space.

  • increased focus and impulse control
  • emotional resilience.
  • insight.
  • social skills.
  • conflicts and distress
....and the list goes on.
My child is autistic, how can art therapy help them?
Art therapy is a powerful form of treatment for autism, as it helps lessen symptoms, while channeling certain symptomatic behaviors into an expressive, creative outlet. It also assists with promoting communication, emotional growth and sensory integration while fostering social interaction in a safe and fun setting.

I'm not sure I want to come every week, is that okay?
Typically with scheduling, we will set up a regular day and time to meet weekly. To get the maximum benefit from therapy, I recommend weekly appointments, but under some circumstances meeting every other week is possible.
